What’s a Hackathon?

The Sociology of Hackathons | HackerNoon

ha A hackathon is defined by Major League Hacking as, “as an ‘invention marathon’. Anyone who has an interest in technology attends a hackathon to learn, build and share his or her creations over the course of a weekend in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. You don’t have to be a programmer and you certainly don’t have to be majoring in Computer Science.” (MLH). Tl;dr, a hackathon is a fun, free (depending on travel costs) experience where you meet people excited about technology, build a project, and get a lot of “swag” from various sponsors of the hackathon (shirts, water bottles, the works).

This is the account about my craft and experiences in different hackathons . Also I will discuss various events and processes of them. All in all this will be an account of my visit to various hackathons.

Though hackathons made me grow and learn many things. There is a flip, there always is. Most of us get’s caught up in the winning and swags and forget about the motivations that brought is there.
